I currently serve as a Case Evaluator, Mediator and Arbitrator with Oakland County Circuit Court, the American Arbitration Association and privately. Recent Developments in Construction Law

• Repairs after work was done does not extend 90 day period.

• Generally a lien claimant must sue to foreclose its lien within 1 year after the lien is recorded, otherwise, the lien is lost.

• Does the 1 year limitation period also apply if a Lien (surety) Bond is posted with the Court? NO. The 6 year period of limitations for contract actions applies.
